Today I wanna share the story about my football coach. His name is Mr.Bill Kimrey. Some of y’all may have heard of him and judge him by the way he coaches his football team but you have to get to him personally first.
He became our new head football coach about a year and some change ago and since then I’ve had the opportunity to get to know him on a personal level rather just a regular coach. Come to find out we have a lot in common. His parents were also divorced and he worked his butt off to be successful too.
I would go in him office everyday and just sit down and talk about miscellaneous things. Every once in a while coach gives me advice & tips to help me be a better young man in life. After a while I started looking up to him as a role model. I must say he has had my back through all of the stupid decisions I have made last year as a junior. From when I got in an incident with a teacher, to the day I got expelled and was sent to my school’s Alternative Program. He finally let me come back to the football team after getting expelled from school, even though it took a lot of begging.
To bring it all to an end, Mr.Kimrey is helping me become a better young man in life. I told him Happy Father’s Day and that he’s like a dad to me and ever since then he has been calling me son. At camp he said “I’m glad to have ya back son.” Nothing beats have a great mentor/father figure in life.
